2 Great Weekends

Its been awhile since my last post. Gotta make time for blogging

So last weekend I was in NYC, went to a Mets game, and hung out with some old college friends

• The Mets pretty much look good against anyone other than the phillies right now.
  
• Hanging with Trevor and Tina on Saturday night was fun. Although, there were many babies (literally) in the house.
• the drive was tough. Even though I came up in NYC, I'm always slightly shocked at the drivers I encounter there. Case and point - I stop at a 4 way Stop; a lady with a child in her car blows through her stop sign; I honk; she flips me off yelling something. Good for you lady.
• Dan loves flowers.

Yesterday I met up with Trevor and Tina on the wine trail. It was a really fun time.

• Some wines that stood out: Lakewood Vineyards Port 2005; Glenora Catawba; and Keuka Overlook Cellars 2005 Johannisburg Riesling. Although, I did end up buying about 20 bottles.

Its been awhile....

• ...and I'm not talking about blogging ;-).
• Pedro is back for the Mets. As a fan of that team, it was somewhat heartwarming. He worked like hell to be back on the mound.
• I started taking supplements this past week. The ones I take are: creatine (half an hour before working out); a soy milk shake made with: a greens powder, a banana, soy milk, and protein powder; one a day vitamin; and Omega 3 fishoil.
• I feel strong, am in a better mood, and seem more motivated.
• A friend, who is a coworker is changing jobs. Sucks for me - but great for him. Good luck Mike V!
• Pro football starts this week. Go G-Men and my fantasy squads.
• Big deal in college sports.
• Time to visit NYC. On the agenda - Mets game, bars, lunch with family, hanging with Trevor and Co. (really, they're incorporated).
• Man, every now and again you bump into someone who is awesome. Too bad she's got a BF.
• FOTC and Entourage - kick ass.

Yeah, so I'm still obsessed with Flight of the Conchords. I may need to take something for that....

• In Syracuse, its been fluctuating between 60 and 90 degrees, day to day. I'm thinking we're all due for colds in the near future.
• Weekend of 9/7, I get to hang with some old college friends, catch a baseball game, and drink some brews. The down side, is, it is also Irishfest in Syracuse. Damn you concurrent fun times!!!!!! (Trevor, get your a$$ out to hang that weekend.)
• Worst news story EVER? At least from a dude's perspective...Also, how does this happen? I don't mean this in a socio-economic, degradation of humanity kind of way - how did he get past the layer of jeans to do this? Ballsy.
• Anyone ever think of moving out west? If you've studied up on it, or pulled it off, drop me a line.
• The Audi A5 - my next car....in like 5 years.
• So I have this bizarre friend who is trying to win a 2 month % weight loss competition. I'm thinking if she (A) drinks a ton of water/eats a big meal right before the initial weigh in; (B) begins a running program; (C) lays off 'white' carbs - she'll have a decent shot.

Wow, 2 days already. This is going to be a chore....or not! Meh, as I'm somewhat writing this to practice my own writing skills, I guess it is a worthwhile chore ;-).

• man, summer is nearly over. On one hand, that is sad, on the other, I'm not in school or a teacher, so it could be worse.
• dinner, steamed littleneck clams with a spritz of olive oil, bruschetta and a glass of red wine. Great, easy meal.
• yeah, so I feel bad for my cat Jazz, the poor girl had to watch as I ate clam after clam after clam. Thems the breaks cat.
• Started a new supplement program today. Creatine, no biggie; protein powder, kind pleasant; fish oil, fine; vegetable supplement, that's gonna be interesting. When the guy behind the counter describes it as green puke, you know you're in trouble....
• Is there a worse starting QB in the NFL than Rex Grossman...or a better one than Peyton Manning? It really comes out when they play in the same game.
• Hooray, the Mets got Jeff Conine. He'll be relevant in October.

So, this is my 5th attempt at stating a blog. I think I have a decent methodology down this time - bullet points, random musings, if peeps like it great, if not - so be it.

...and now for your feature presentation - reandom musings of a twentysomething Syracuse guy, the8/18 edition

• Rolling Rock - most refreshing beer ever? I think so.
• Hooray HBO - picking up a second season of Flight = brilliant. Best new show on television. If you like to laugh, I'd recommend Flight, Mr Show (try it), Arrested Dev, and 30 Rock.
• Stop jumping off ledges Met fans. This team is still growing. 2 years ago, it was a joke; last year it was dominant; this year, growing pains - so be it.
• Fiery Habanero Doritos - aren't they veeeery similar to jalapeno cheddar 3D doritios, just rebranded?
  
• Madden 08 for the Wii = fun; Boxing, tennis (part of free sports games) = more fun. The Wii in general kicks some A**.
• Sorry DC and JS. You know it was an honest mistake. I hope you can forgive me in time ;-).
• Saucony running shoes - who knew?!?!?!
  
• Oh laundry dryer, why do you mock me so. You say my clothing is dry, yet it always needs 1 more cycle.
  
• Google the word omentum. Interesting stuff.
